Connaught Place is New Delhi’s Central Business District, with heritage structures such as India Gate and the Parliament House in its vicinity. Connaught Place (CP as it is popularly called) boasts of offices of many big Indian corporates as well as international consulates and embassies.
Officially known as Rajiv Chowk (after the Late Indian Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi) today, Connaught Place was developed between 1929 and 1933 as a showpiece of Lutyens' Delhi featuring a Central Business District and named after the Duke of Connaught.
The area is instantly recognisable because of the big circle in the middle with eight roads spreading out in different directions. Twelve roads lead out from the outer ring of this circle towards areas such as Pragati Maidan, Delhi Haat, Rashtrapati Bhavan and the Supreme Court, all within a 5 kilometre radius. The Rajiv Chowk Metro Station at Connaught Place is also a central node for Delhi’s Metro trains.

Visit the Parliament House.
The Parliament house was designed by the British architects Sir Edwin Lutyens and Sir Herbert Baker. The construction of this building began in 1921 and was completed in 1927. Today, the circular building is the seat of the Indian Government with both Houses of Parliament - Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha - located within this heritage structure.

Pay homage to the 'Amar Jawan' at India Gate.
One of India's largest war memorials, it was originally known as All India War Memorial. A prominent landmark, India Gate was built by Edward Lutyens to commemorate the soldiers who lost their lives in World War I. Post-independence, the memorial also became the site of the Indian Army's Amar Jawan Jyoti, where one can pay homage to Indian soldiers who lost their lives in war.

Take a ride on the Metro from Rajiv Chowk.
The metro station at Rajiv Chowk is one of the nodal stations for the Delhi Metro. This station is the interchange for the Yellow and Blue lines of the Metro and one of the largest and busiest stations in the network.

Central Park is the point from where Connaught Place’s three-layered roads begin. This spot has been recently renovated by the Delhi Metro Corporation, which has turned it into a place with fountains, soft-lighting and exotic trees, making it a serene and peaceful spot in the middle of Delhi’s Central Business District.

Palika Bazaar is India's first underground air-conditioned market. Located below the inner circle of Connaught Place, it hosts several shops selling a variety of items. Palika Bazaar was set up in the early 1970s and is estimated to have approximately 15,000 people in the market at any given time.
